Aistear - The Birthday Party

During April we have been playing with the Birthday Party station during Aistear.

This week we decided to bake a cake.

We used our bossy words when writing the recipe.

Then we followed our recipes. It was a little bit messy but a lot of fun.

 Eating - the best bit of baking :)

We were learning the dates of our birthdays in History - because they are very important!!!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Last week one of our stories was about a very hungry caterpillar...

During history we sequenced the story using pictures and days of the week..

It tells the story of  how an egg, hatched into a caterpillar turns to a chrysalis or cocoon and finally a beautiful butterfly, like the butterfly in our Monkey Puzzle book.

''A tiny little caterpillar curled up on a leaf

Spun a little chrysalis and then fell fast asleep

While she was sleeping she dreamed that she could fly

And when she woke up she was a butterfly"

In Maths we can write our numbers on our counting caterpillars...

In Art we printed a caterpillar using a balloon and all the fruit she ate around it - one apple, two pears, three plums, four strawberries and five oranges
